The LORD lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let God be exalted, the Rock of my salvation. 2 Samuel 22:47 |
From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psalm 61:2 |
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense, I shall not be greatly moved. Psalm 62:2 |
There is none holy like the LORD, for their is none besides You, nor is there any rock like our God. 1 Samuel 2:2 |
For who is God, except the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God? Psalm 18:31 |
I waited patiently for the LORD and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay and set my feet upon a rock . . . |
. . . and established my steps. Psalm 40:1,2 |
He shall cry to Me, You are my Father, my God and the rock of my salvation. Psalm 89:26 |
And the LORD said, "Here is a place by Me and you shall stand on the rock . . . |
. . . So it shall be while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by . . . |
. . . then I will take My hand away and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen. Exodus 33:21-23 |
Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
Let my teaching drop as the rain, my speech distill as the dew,
as raindrops on the tender herb and as showers on the grass.
For I proclaim the name of the LORD; ascribe greatness to our God
He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice,
a God of truth and without injustice, righteous and upright is He.
Deuteronomy 32:1-
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
the God of my strength, in Him I will trust, my shield and the horn of my salvation,
my stronghold and my refuge; my Saviour, You save me from violence.
I will call upon the LORD who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.
2 Samuel 22:2-4
To You I will cry, O LORD my Rock; do not be silent to me, lest if You are silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit. Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry to You, when I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary. Psalm 28:1,2
One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inqure in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavillion; in the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. Psalm 27:4,5
Be my strong habitation, to which I may resort continually; You have given the commandment to save me, for You are my rock and my fortress. Psalm 71:3

The image of God as rock is one of my favorites. Solid, dependable, strong. Beautiful photos, as usual.
ReplyDeleteAnd is that big white one the cause for the name "White Rock?"
Thanks, Lorrie . . . and yes, the big white rock in photos 2 & 3 is the source of the name for White Rock, BC. I've included a blurb from Tourism BC's website.
ReplyDelete"The White Rock
A wonderful mythology surrounds this rock: about a tall, handsome Sea God who ruled the Gulf of Georgia. He fell in love with the mortal daughter of a Cowichan chief and when both families refused to accept their marriage, he hurled a huge white rock over the water and declared they would make their home where it landed. Thus started the Semiahmoo Tribe – the Half Moon Tribe named for the bay. The less romantic truth is that the rock is a glacial erratic of the Coast Mountains left here after the last ice age. Graffiti has long since forced The City of White Rock to lime it white; reminiscent of its original white colour. It weighs 416 tonnes."
Dear Andrea Dawn,
ReplyDeleteI have always heard God referred to as a rock, but I NEVER once got a picture of me beside that rock like I got today with your photograph of the teeny, tiny rock climbers scaling that mammoth rock. How could one not be secure attached to such strength? My faith exploded as I contemplated His expanse and my insignificance, save that I have attached myself to Him through faith in His self-sacrifice.
As the psalmist cried out
"What are mortals that you should think of us, mere humans that you should care for us?...You put us in charge of everything you made, giving us authority over all things--" Psalm 8:4,6
Bless you, Andrea Dawn, for exploding truth into my heart so powerfully,
Dawn
There is none holy like the LORD, for their is none besides You, nor is there any rock like our God.

Andrea -
I look forward to getting my notification whenever you create your latest post.
The photo of the little girl on the small rock made an immediate impression this morning - interesting how each of us is moved by different images isn't it?
This post just meant so much to me today. I grew up in NJ, where we had mountains and rocks, etc. I've now been in Florida way too long, and have forgotten the majesty and strength that ROCKS can convey. These photos just made me want to go rock climbing!!! Such a beautiful post and I can't even pick a favorite of all these rocks. Perhaps it is HIM!
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful photos and appropriate scriptures have lifted me, once again.
ReplyDeleteHe is the rock of my salvation. Best metaphor in the world to show that rock-steady aspect of Christ.
ReplyDeleteI go to the rock of my salvation, I go to the stone that the builders rejected…
Rock of ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee…
On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand…
I love the Rock of Ages.
Andrea Dawn, such a brilliant idea to put together all of these rocks – and then find all of those beautiful verses to go with them. It's a mosaic that all comes together – and makes me smile at your effort – and smile at the faith that bound it. I'm not sure I want to pick a favorite – but when ever I see this many options I always feel led to do so – and I'll go with the picture of the rock in the waves – a safe place indeed. I hearted this – thank you – and God bless and keep you and each and every one of yours.
