Ask For the Old Paths

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.  Psalm 119:105

Teach me Your way, O LORD, and lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies.  Psalm 27:11

Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, for in You do I trust; cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You. Psalm 143:8

Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.  Proverbs 4:26

But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.  Proverbs 4:18

You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.  Psalm 16:11

Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, for I delight in it.  Psalm 119:35

You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.  Psalm 139:3

Concerning the works of men, by the word of Your lips, I have kept myself from the paths of the destroyer.  Uphold my steps in Your paths, that my footsteps may not slip.  Psalm 17:4,5

Thus says the LORD, " Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; then you will find rest for your souls.  Jeremiah 6:16

When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then You knew my path.  Psalm 142:3a

Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills;  and all nations shall flow to it.  Many people shall come and say,
"Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways and we shall walk in His paths."  Isaiah 2:2,3

The way of the just is uprightness;
O Most Upright, You weigh the path of the just.  Isaiah 26:7

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.  He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.  Psalm 23:1-3

All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth; to such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.  Psalm 25:10

Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding;
for her proceeds are better than silver and her gain than fine gold.
She is more precious than rubies
and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.
Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honour.
Her ways are the ways of pleasantness and all her paths are peace
She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her and happy are all who retain her.  Proverbs 3:13-18

My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you,
so that you incline your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding;
 yes, if you cry out for discernment and lift up your voice for understanding,
if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures;
then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.
 For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding;
 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;
He guards the paths of justice and preserves the way of His saints.
Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path.  Proverbs 2:1-9

I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known.  I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight.  These things I will do for them, and not forsake them.  Isaiah 42:16

Those from amony you shall build the old waste places;
you shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
and you shall be called the  Repairer of the Breech,
the Restorer of Paths to Dwell In.  Isaiah 58:12

  2. When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then You knew my path. Psalm 142:3a

    I'm not sure what this means, but I am going to study it before I go to bed tonight. I would like to know what He's promised when I am overwhelmed. It seems to be happening a lot to me these days.

    It's interesting how your focus is on paths. I was looking for a good path picture and could not find one that suited me. Now, right here in front of me are many. I especially love the one that is attached to Psalm 139. It looks like I could walk right into those woods!

    Thanks for all your hard work in this space. I LOVE it, and you,
    Dawn

  5. I'm late in reading this, but had to leave a comment. There is something about paths that has always intrigued me. Even as a kid, if I saw a path leading into the woods, I would just have to know where it was going. Jer. 6:16 has to be one of my favorite verses. Whenever I feel a little "off course" or see too many ways in front of me, just to ask Him for "the old paths" and know that He will honor and answer that request is awesome to me! Thank you for all the photos. Just beautiful to a path wanderer!!!
