Under the Tree

"Then the LORD appeared to him (Abraham) by the terebinth trees of Mamre . . .

. . . as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day.

So he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing by him . . .

. . . and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground . . .

. . . and said, "My LORD, if I have now found favour in Your sight . . .

. . . do not pass on by Your servant . . .

Please let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yoursleves under the tree.  And I will bring a morsel of bread that you may refresh your hearts." Genesis18:1-5

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the LORD and in His law he meditates day and night.  He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither, and whatever he does shall prosper.  Psalm 1:1-3

But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God;
I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever.  Psalm 52:8

The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.  Those who are planted in the house of the LORD, shall flourish in the courts of our God.  They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing . . .
Psalm 92:12-14

Sing, O heavens, for the LORD has done it!  Shout, you lower parts of the earth; break forth into singing you mountians, O forest, and every tree in it!  For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and glorified Himself in Israel.  Isaiah 44:23

Like an apple tree among the trees of the woods, so is my beloved among the sons.  I sat down in his shade with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.  Song of Solomon 2:3

  3. Trees - such beauty. A good metaphor for a strong believer. Love the angles you've shot.

  4. Great shots, Andrea. What is the tree in the fifth picture with the layered triangle-looking leaves?
    Inquiring minds in the plant business would like to know. Not that Canadian plants are likely to be found in Florida... :-)
